We believe that what Dr Leo Kah Woon has shared with us in part 1 of the Breast Augmentation QnA section has helped many of us who are keen on a breast augmentation to make a sound decision when choosing the best breast augmentation modal.
However, it is more than just the knowledge of pre-surgery that we require. It is important to learn of the after care in order for us to achieve the ideal looking pair of lady bosoms.
Breast will be swollen and slight bruising will be spotted. For the first few weeks, the breast will feel tender to the touch.
2) What to do for post surgery care?
Immediately after surgery, a dressing in the Inframammary fold will be kept in the breast for a week. A special support bra will be provided for the patients to wear after surgery. After a week when the dressing is removed, the patients will then be able to resume normalcy such as bathing.
Bathing is fine during the first week when the dressing is in the breast, however, it is crucial to not get any water into the dressing.
3) What can be done to remove the scar from a breast augmentation surgery?
Usually after surgery, scar cream and lightening cream will be provided. For some patients, they can start on laser treatments and scar therapy so that the scar is kept to a minimal.
4) Are there any foods to avoid after surgery?
Usually nothing. However, some Chinese patients avoid soy sauce and seafood.
5) When is a good time to go back to office/workout routine for the different methods used?
Patients typically resume work between 2-3 days after surgery. As for exercise, patients can resume their exercise regime in a week. It is advised to not exercise to avoid perspiring in the first week after surgery as this increases the chance of infection.
6) What is the recovery time for the different methods (implants vs fat grafting)?
The breast will be almost fully recovered after 1 week for the implant method while the fat grafting will almost fully recover after 2 weeks as there will still be bruising even after the first week.
7) Are there any tips to hasten the recovery process?
Patients are provided anti-swelling cream to hasten the recovery process. It is also important to keep the wound dry as much as possible and avoid any exercises that will stretch the wound.
8) How long does it take before the swelling goes down?
It takes about 4-6 weeks for the swelling to totally go down.
9) How long does it take before the breast looks and feels natural to the touch?
Similarly, the breast looks and feels completely natural about 4-6 weeks after surgery.
So your big day is around the corner and you’re in the do-whatever-it-takes-to-me-the-prettiest-bride-in-history mode.
While some of us find our eating habits change drastically from 5 meals a day to just 5 grapes a day or suddenly turning into an exercise junkie, this lady took pre-wedding preparations to the extreme!
Chantelle Harris was reluctant to walk down the aisle in her 133kg body and was determined to do quite a lot before she got hitched. Spending a hefty S$25K on plastic surgery, the 29 year old finally attained her dream body.
When 133kg proved to be too much for Chantelle to handle, she turned to dieting of all sorts. But when they all failed her, the bride-to-be had no choice but to opt for a gastric band that cost S$12.5K, bringing her down to a teeny 82kg.
With one of her problems out of the way, Chantelle now faced another problem that came with her drastic weight loss.
Losing all that weight caused her initial G cup to shrink to a C cup (by no means, small), very much to Chantelle’s displeasure.
But she was soon put out of her misery when she paid yet another S$12.5K for breast augmentation, bringing her from a C to an E cup.
Chantelle said: “I needed the gastric band to help me lose weight as I had failed countless times with different diet plans.
“After losing eight stone I felt great, I was fitter, not sluggish anymore and could feel the difference in every aspect of my life.
“My only problem was that my breasts had lost a lot of their volume and I’d gone down five cup sizes.
“It left me feeling unhappy as there was nothing I wanted more than to look amazing on my wedding day.
“I wanted to have the option not to wear a bra on my big day and for me it was the way to complete my amazing transformation.
“After my initial gastric band surgery I felt great but there was one last thing that I wanted to resolve about myself – now I feel incredible and can’t wait to get married.
“What took me aback was that before most people would see my size before anything else, but not my fianc , Marlon, he didn’t even think I was big enough to have a gastric band.
“Before my breast surgery he told me that he only wanted me to have the surgery if I was doing it for myself and no one else – he didn’t mind whether I had it or not.
“I’m so glad I did as I’ve gained all of my confidence back and feel so much happier now.”
And with all that funk out of the way, Chantelle Harris is now ready to start the next chapter in her life as she plans for her wedding in April next year.
We wish the couple the very best and a truly blessed marriage!
With the rising trend of plastic surgery procedures being doled out as graduation gifts, more and more Koreans are going under the knife to achieve that coveted aesthetic perfection, making Korea unequivocally the plastic surgery capital of the world.
But the plastic surgery trend in K-pop land has seemingly extended its influence to neighbouring country, China. With China’s cosmetic surgery industry estimated to be valued at 400 billion yuan (S$88.8 billion) by the end of the 2015 and expected to double (800 billion yuan) by 2019, China is undoubtedly picking up pace at quite a speedy rate.
With a steady growth, it is expected that China will be the world’s third largest market after the United States and Brazil by 2019, according to the latest industry trend report.
The report, issued by the China Association of Plastics and Aesthetics on Monday found that more than seven million Chinese people, mostly women, went under the knife in the name of beauty last year with approximately 60,000 of them opting for South Korea as their preferred plastic surgery destination.
Interestingly, 10% more foreigners have come to China for plastic surgery year-on-year for the past five years, although a great number of Chinese travelled abroad, mostly to South Korea, the report found.
“Cosmetic procedures have grown incredibly in China as an increasing number of women go under the knife to get ahead,” said Chen Yuzhe, a CAPA member, at the launch.
“With deeper pockets and enhanced awareness, there will be more room for the industry to grow here.”
Although breast enlargement is the most popular procedure worldwide, however, breast augmentation isn’t quite as well received in China. US records 300,000 breast enhancements each year while in China, a mere 50,000 to 100,000 are performed, according to Du Xiaoyan, vice-secretary general of the association.
“Chinese women are more reluctant than Westerners to go for breast enhancements,” Du said.
Chen pointed out that the China figure could be an underestimate as “some go to unqualified clinics so they are not on our radar”.
China now has more than 10,000 plastic surgery clinics and the number is increasing by 30 per cent each year, said the report.
However, due to a lack of regulations or strict management controls, unqualified practitioners also operate, leading to medical disputes and dangers to customers’ health and safety, Du said.
She cautioned “beauty chasers”, to opt for South Korea as their plastic surgery destination since fewer than 3,000 of the more than 10,000 physicians performing plastic surgery in South Korea are authorised.
To help improve safety and quality control, CAPA plans to launch a data platform to collect and assess data from different institutions and track surgeries performed within the country, Du said.
With more attention paid in the safety and quality control department, China might very well take over the current plastic surgery capital in the near future.
Blogger Effynius has always been self –conscious about her small chest. Having been made fun of her whole life for being flat chested, Effynius turned to padded bras to boost her self-confidence.
However, when stuffing her bras didn’t give Effynius the effect that she wanted, Effynius decided that plastic surgery was the way to getting the pair of beautiful bosoms she had always dreamt of.
Effynius was more than appreciative of the clinic’s sensitivity towards their patients’ privacy. At Dr Shens’ clinic, private spaces with curtain drawns at the waiting area are provided to ensure that their patients are comfortable and their privacy, uncompromised.
During the consultation with Dr Shens, the professional not only provided Effynius with a comprehensive explanation of the different types of implants that she could opt for, but he was also patient in answering Effynius’ every query, allowing Effynius to make the best decision for her breast augmentation surgery.
Assessment of her requirements
Upon deciding on tear-drop implants, Effynius then had to be assessed by Dr Shens. Although Effynius was sure of what size she wanted, she felt that it was better to communicate her preference with Dr Shens.
Choice of breast implant size
When it was time to choose the perfect size implants for Effynius, she had to change into a white body-hugging top to gauge the overall outcome of the surgery.
Under Dr Shens’ professional assessment, he had suggested Effynius to go for 305CC (C/D cup). Although Effynius was worried that C/D cup was a little to big for her petite size, it turned out that Dr Shens’ judgment could not be more right for Effynius after she saw the results.
Breast surgery day
Finally, the day of surgery had arrived and blogger Effynius was both excited and a bunch of nerves. Lucky for her, Dr Shens’ surgical team was more than reassuring and constantly made Effynius feel comfortable. According to Effynius, “the entire surgical team was very gentle and their hospitality makes everything at ease.”
After a thorough pre-surgery test on Effynius, she was ready for surgery.
Although Effynius was nervous, however, she was more at ease when she encountered the gentle and comforting anesthetist, Dr Tan. Chatting with Effyus and being extremely detailed with his explanation, Effynius felt less worried.
Post Breast Augmentation Surgery
Post surgery turned out to be more than pleasant for Effynius with absolutely no pain. One peek down her shirt and the blogger was thrilled about her new pair of breasts.
The nurses and clinic manager constantly attended to her to ensure that she was comfortable and all right after the surgery, making Effynius feel assured.
After which, Effynius was taught a few arm exercises to help in her recovery and she was good to go.
Recovery after BA
1st Week
When the anesthesia wore off by the 3rd day, Effynius started to feel the pain of post surgery. The bruising started and the blogger was slightly overwhelmed. However, it wasn’t something she hadn’t expected as Dr Shens had explained and prepared her for bruising she was going to experience after the surgery.
Effynius went back to Dr Shens on the 5th day. As the pain was unbearable, Effynius broke down. However, the entire surgical team was extremely understanding and consoled her repeatedly.
According to the blogger “I am grateful for them to take my whinings and hysterical behaviour patiently. The entire team was very supportive and stayed by me.”
But it was more than just the surgical team that understood Effynius, Dr Shens reassurance was ultimately the boost of determination that Effynius needed to get through the painful recovery process. D Shens’ words “Trust me, Vikki. I know this is a tough period for you. But once this phase is over, you will not regret. You will grow to love your new body,” gave her the strength and confidence to overcome the painful recovery process.
2nd Week
Effynius had to go back for follow up at Dr Shens. By then, the pain was almost all gone and her implants were settling down in the right position, much to Effynius’ delight. With the pain more or less gone, Effynius starts to appreciate her new set of breasts.
6th Week
The scars have lightened and Effynius’ side boobs have regained its natural softness. Although the inner chest area is still stiff (which is normal), however, she can see and feel the implants gradually softening and settling down to the desired position.
12th Week
By the 12th week, Effynius’ breasts have softened a lot more. Although there is some time more to full recovery, Effynius is thrilled and excited about her new breasts.
Afterthought
Although Effynius had to endure some trying times during the recovery period, the blogger cannot be more happy with her new body; made possible by the reputable Dr Shens.
In her words, “I am now confident to wear any tops that I fancy – low cuts, sexy dresses and stuff – without the need to worry if they look empty on top. My new body makes me look good in anything!
I have now gained so much more confidence in me, and I sincerely thank Dr Shens for everything.”

But with the Upper Blepharoplasty surgery all set and done, just what should you expect during the post-surgery period as well the the things you can do to hasten the recovery process? Dr Colin Tham is back with more tips on Upper Blepharoplasty Part 2.
1) What can I expect right after an Upper Blepharoplasty surgery?
Swelling will increase over the 1st 48 hours with occasional bruising. However, vision will not be not affected.
2) What is the post surgery care?
Medications for swelling are provided as well as painkillers although the latter is seldom consumed; it is usually not very painful post-surgery.
3) What is the recovery time for the different methods?
Non-incisional method usually looks presentable within 3-5 days.
Incisional method varies according to patient, height of fold and amount of fat removed. Most patients return to work within a week. Stitch removal is 5 days after surgery.
4) Are there any foods to avoid or any lifestyle change?
No foods to avoid. No lifestyle changes are necessary; smoking cessation is beneficial but not essential.
5) What are some of the ways to hasten the recovery process?
Anti-swelling / bruising medications that are provided should be taken.
Healthy living: sleep, balanced diet, vitamin C >2g/day, hydration. We use electromagnetic wireloops that seem to decrease the severity and duration of bruising and swelling by half. Also, Sleeping propped up has minor benefits.
6) When can I start working out and going back to work?
Anytime. For practical purposes, most wait until the stitches are removed (5 days post) before heading back.
7) When can I put on make up?
Makeup can be put on about 1 week after surgery.
8) How long does it take for the swelling to go down for it to be imperceptible?
It is very variable. But it ranges from 1 week to 2 months.
9) How long before the result is permanent for each method?
I would say that the results are more stable after the 1st month for both methods. The incisional method is obviously much stronger than the non-incisional method.
10) Any tips for patients from your (Dr Colin Tham’s) personal experience?
I would suggest seeing a qualified surgeon who is capable of performing all methods of upper blepharoplasties, including ptosis repair. That would ensure an objective assessment of your needs. I have had patients who were talked into undergoing the stitch method simply because the doctor they saw only knew how to perform that method. They ended up requiring revisions with incisional techniques; more cost, more downtime and compromised results. The 1st operation is the best opportunity to get an ideal result.
This woman from Shanghai was so keen to win back her ex-boyfriend that she wanted to undergo plastic surgery to look like his favourite Hollywood idol and dream girl – Jessica Alba.
Xiaoqing said that her ex-boyfriend was obsessed with Jessica Alba, covering his room with pictures of her and even buying a blonde wig for her to wear when they go on dates. The wallpaper on his handphone is also of his idol, as with the wallpaper on his computer.
Ironically, it was also his love of Jessica Alba that was to spell the end of their relationship.
As the couple went dating around Shanghai and Xiaoqing was in her blonde wig and Alba-styled makeup, she noticed people starring at her and was visibly upset.
She was so upset that she tore off the wig and fake eyelashes and stormed off.
As she returned to her usual looks, her boyfriend wanted nothing to do with her.
Desperate to win back her ex-boyfriend, she is willing to undergo extensive plastic surgery to look every bit like Jessica Alba.
Clinic officials did tell her that what she wanted was possible, but that it would be costly. She would have to go through eyelid surgery, brow lift, as well as nose reconstruction to look like the Hollywood star.
Xiaoqing spoke to Reuters, “When I broke up with my boyfriend, I was very sad. My friends kept consoling me but it did not work, so they suggested I do plastic surgery to look like her (Jessica Alba).”
Shortly after the breakup Xiaoqing turned to online netizens for help to win her boyfriend back, including sharing her plans for surgery to look like Jessica Alba.
Despite many netizens advising her against it, she said she is still very keen on proceeding with her plan.
This big hoo-ha has led to the star herself responding over what she heard.
Alba reportedly said, “I think you should never have to change yourself like that. If somebody loves you, they will love you no matter what.”
And it worked.
Xiaoqing has since decided against surgery, and has thanked the Fantastic Four star for making her change her mind.
She says, “I think it’s great that Jessica is so concerned about me. Her words also played an important role in my decision.”
Plastic surgery for the nose, otherwise known as Rhinoplasty, is one of the most common forms of plastic surgery performed worldwide. While most people choose to perform rhinoplasty for cosmetic reasons, the operation may also be performed for more functional reasons.
Rhinoplasty may be necessary to correct a nose defect following trauma like a road traffic accident or for the restoration of nose function through relief of obstruction.
What are the types of Rhinoplasty?
There are many forms of cosmetic rhinoplasty. Possibilities include bridge enhancement, straightening of crooked noses, removing nasal humps, lifting of drooping noses, nostril width reduction, closing open nostrils and tip refinements.
Amongst all of these procedures, however, the most common single procedure would be the use of a nasal implant to enhance the shape and projection of the nose.
A short procedure that can be performed under thirty minutes, the nasal implant is inserted through hidden internal incisions to enhance the bridge, tip and overall length of the nose. it is an especially popular procedure amongst Asians who tend to have flat noses with low bridges.
How long is the recovery time for rhinoplasty?
For most rhinoplasty procedures, most patients would be back at work within five to seven days. I usually advise my patients to avoid heavy manipulation of their noses and contact sports for the first month or so, but other than that they are usually free to do whatever they wish.
Who is suitable for rhinoplasty?
Despite being a particularly common choice of plastic surgery, not all patients are necessarily suitable for rhinoplasty. Dr Colin Tham usually engages in his patients in detailed discussions prior to surgery to clearly understand their desires and to ensure that both our expectations can be met.
First of all, following the hippocratic oath of “do no harm”, his primary concern would be that of his patients. He once had to reject a case who had already been operated on six times before by foreign surgeons and had developed numerous past complications. Due to the previous operations, undertaking that operation would have risked the skin of the patient’s nose dying.
Dr Colin Tham remains mindful that the first operation gives the highest chance of success with the least risk; therefore he will do his utmost to ensure its success.
Rohan Gupta, 21, willingly got both his legs broken and metal rods impaled through them in two places to support a clunky frame. Unable to walk and in pain, he was laid up for months, spending upwards of S$12,000 on treatment.
“It was totally worth it,” said a visibly happy undergraduate from Lucknow to Hindustan Times. “When I stood up after four months, I was in heaven.” Or a little more closer — after a successful limb-lengthening surgery that added 3.5 inches to his somewhat slight frame of 5 feet and 4 inches.
“I’m 5 feet and 7-1/2 inches now. My younger brother was taller, now he’s not. I can’t wait for his reaction,” said Gupta, living in Delhi for the past five months.
Techie Amit Sundaran moved to the Capital from Hyderabad in January and added three inches to his 5’2’’ after a surgery on January 23.
The 25-year-old’s need to stand taller was more professional than personal. “Trust me, it was needed. Being short is not just a social handicap but also affects your career by getting in the way of promotions,” he said, lying in his bed with both legs in metal frames.
After a broken engagement, Charu Singh’s family came to the city from Alwar in Rajasthan. She, according to her family, was more presentable now — at 4’11’’, having gained four inches.
“People looked at me like I was a freak, it’s changed now,” she said. “Thanks to doctor sahib, I’m like everyone else.”
Her gratitude was for Dr Amar Sarin, an orthopaedic surgeon at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute in west Delhi. The Russia-trained surgeon has done more than 150 limb-lengthening surgeries since 1996.
“Initially, most of my patients were from the US, Europe and China, but it’s changed over the past three years. Indians now account for two in three surgeries,” Dr Sarin said. He uses the Ilizarov technique in which a bone is cut – or broken — and lengthened gradually with the help of metal wires and rings.
Nine in 10 people who opt for surgery are men.
The Ilizarov method, which destroyed the view that bone can’t be grown longer, is widely used to correct deformities, which may be congenital or caused by accidents, polio or poorly-healed fractures but people are increasingly opting for it for cosmetic reasons. “It’s still a very small percentage, just 150 of the more than 3,000 surgeries I’ve done, but it’s growing,” he said.
Orthopaedic surgeon such as Dr Manish Dhawan at Ganga Ram Hospital said they rarely do limb-lengthening for cosmetic reasons.
“I do not advocate it for cosmetic reasons because there can be complications such as infection…and neurovascular complications because of the insertion, osteoporosis at the site of the fracture or of the bone etc,” Dr Dhawan said.
Dr Sarin said they do a psychological assessment and do the surgery only when lack of inches start affecting every aspect of patients’ lives.
Not everyone does it as a last resort. Bob Lendel, 26, from Texas, underwent surgery on September 17 to add 2 inches to his 5’9’’ frame. He left India for a holiday in Europe on Friday morning.
“I’m not even sure my friends will notice I’m taller, but it makes me feel good about myself,” he said.
Was it worth it? “Yes. But I’m happy I’m done with it.”
And here is a short documentary on the story of two men who have undergone this procedure:
General practitioner Kevin Teh has been suspended for four months by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) for professional misconduct following aesthetic treatment that went wrong.
He had been fined $10,000 in 2014 when a patient almost lost two fingers. Dr Teh had then tried to cover his tracks dishonestly.
This time the patient ended up with burns on both thighs following vaser liposuction treatment to reduce fat. She had to be sent to Singapore General Hospital’s (SGH) emergency department and was hospitalised for more than two weeks.
The day after the treatment on Oct 14, 2010, there were fluid-filled blisters and some swelling and bruising on the back of both the patient’s thighs.
He told the patient that the blisters were burns that would heal with proper care. He and his nurse saw her every day to treat the burns and bruises.
But a week after the liposuction, there were purple blotchiness on the thighs, she had chills and a fever of 39.1 deg C.
The doctor and his nurses went with her to SGH that night. She was admitted to the Burns Unit and scheduled for skin graft surgery the next morning.
However, the cause of the burns was not looked into by the disciplinary tribunal chaired by Dr Yap Lip Kee, as it did not form part of the three charges against Dr Teh.
The charges were: that he failed to refer the patient to a specialist in a timely manner; failed to ensure that sedation was properly done; and did not have adequate documentation.
He was found guilty of the first two charges and cleared of the third charge.
The tribunal said that waiting till the patient had “clear signs of infection” before sending her to hospital amounted to “serious negligence”.
Explaining its decision, the tribunal said: “Based on the clear medical evidence of the experts for both sides, a referral should have been made much earlier.”
On the second charge, Dr Teh was found to have given a higher dosage of Propofol, a sedative, than recommended by the manufacturer.
Known side effects of Propofol include burning at the site of the injection, the patient could stop breathing or get a seizure.
The tribunal found that Dr Teh was not aware of the guidelines for safe sedation issued by the Ministry of Health in 2002.
It said it found this, and the high dosage given, “particularly troubling since it would be incumbent on any doctor who intends to conduct his own sedation to ensure that he is familiar with the prevailing guidelines as well as something as basic as a recommended dosage”.
They added that Dr Teh “totally disregarded” the manufacturer’s guideline that ” Propofol is to be administered only by anaesthetists or intensivists”.
In deciding the penalty, the tribunal said it did not take the other case for which Dr Teh had been found guilty, into account as it had run parallel to this one.
It did take into account the “strong testimonials on his behalf from members of the medical profession, his staff and patients”.
They also noted that Dr Teh, whose clinic is the Singapore Lipo, Body and Face Centre at Novena Medical Centre, has changed his practice and now engages an anaesthetist to sedate patients.
His four-month suspension started on Jan 12.
He also has to promise not to repeat the offence and to pay the cost of the hearing.
Meet Sara and Emma Koponen, twins who are so obsessed with looking alike that they undergone the same plastic surgery procedures to look like “Barbie Dolls”.

Breast Augmentation is one of the most popular procedures in the plastic surgery realm, helping boost women’s self-esteem with an addition cup size or two.
For ladies who have always wanted to get a pair of bigger and perkier bosoms, it is crucial for you to understand what to expect of this procedure. If you are looking for a plastic surgeon, you can find a breast augmentation Singapore surgeon.
We’ve come up with 13 most important tips you should know, should you be considering a breast augmentation procedure.
1. Cut down on exercise before breast augmentation procedure.
You are encouraged to stop exercising their chest muscles two weeks before their surgery as this helps to minimize post-operative pain and can also reduce intraoperative bleeding. Also, if you are the kind to do exercise regularly, try to ease up on your exercising routine at least one day before your surgery to keep your body hydrated for the breast augmentation surgery.
2. Maintain a healthy diet and avoid drinking alcohol a week prior to your procedure.
While there is no special diet required before a breast augmentation, however do include good protein, vegetables, low salt foods before the surgery. Ensure to get plenty of rest and take as little pain medication as possible to keep constipation on the low. Since bleeding is one of the most frequent post operative complications of a breast augmentation surgery, it is also advised for you to stop all nutritional supplements including omega 3 containing fish oils and excess garlic since some of these supplements contribute to blood thinning and cause bleeding.
3. Try to walk after the surgery everyday but keep it 30 minutes per session, this helps de-swelling.
A customized workout regimen can dramatically improve results of your post breast augmentation surgery. While every patient is different, it is advised to plan a workout program that is customized to your fitness levels and overall health. Patients generally feel better physically and mentally from light exercises as it takes away the stress of post surgery. Some light cardio exercises such as strolling, walking on a very slow setting on a treadmill, or cycling slowly on a stationary bike can be considered.
4. Lift your arms overhead 5 times per hour, this helps stretch out the pectoral muscle, however be sure never to overuse the pectoral muscle.
The simple exercise of lifting your arm overhead 5 times per hour helps to reduce swelling in the hands which can sometimes happen in post breast augmentation surgery. But it is crucial to not overwork the pectoral muscles since the majority of breast implants are placed underneath the major pectoral muscle. Never lift anything heavier than 10 pounds or engage in any form of weight lifting, push ups or pull ups during the initial recovery stages.
5. Keep heart below 100 for at least 2 weeks.
It is crucial to maintain heart rate below 100, 2 weeks post breast augmentation surgery as decrease blood pressure helps to prevent bleeding in the pockets after surgery. An increase in heart rate during the two week recovery period can increase swelling and such hyper-swelling can lead to stretch marks. Taking that down time also means a faster and better recovery and it is also a way to avoid complications.
6. Maintain a healthy diet after breast augmentation procedure.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and whole grains and stay away from greasy and unhealthy fats. Such unhealthy fats increase inflammation, while healthy ones decrease it. Fruits and vegetables and foods that are rich in fibre decrease inflammation. Keep your fibre intake to at 30 grams a day and also limit yourself to 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day. It is also important to keep away from salty foods as high consumption of salt in the body after surgery will cause the body to swell.
7. Take at least 1 week off work.
It is very important to take sufficient time off of work and have a good rest after breast augmentation. The rest time taken allows tissues to heal and the capsules to form properly. Since muscles and other tissues are cut during the breast augmentation procedure, those tissues can bleed or form scar tissue or worse still, get infected if ample time is not given to properly recuperate and tend to the surgery site. Most patients can return to light duty in 5-7 days while heavier lifting activities take 3-4 weeks after surgery.
8. Wear a medical grade compression bra after surgery.
Wearing a medical grade compression bra is crucial in your post breast augmentation recovery. This special bra provides extra support and accelerates the healing process, allowing you to return to daily routines much quicker. The compression aspect of the bra diminishes risk on scar tissue creation and is careful not to irritate the incision site. The compression bra also helps to minimize swelling, improves blood circulation and also helps to flush out potentially harmful fluids out of your body cavity. Making sure that your implants are in the correct position at at given time, the compression bra also helps your skin fit into its new shape and contours.
9. Reduced sensation in your breasts and nipples is normal during immediate recovery period.
It is completely normal to lose slight sensation to your breast and nipple after your breast augmentation procedure since the sensory nerve to the nipple and areola are stretched by the implant. Although the risk of permanent sensation loss is very low, it is takes about 3-6 months before the sensation returns. If you have opted for larger implants, you will be subjected to a higher risk of sensation changes. Breast massage is recommended to speed recovery and help alleviate any discomfort.
10. It is normal for breasts to look rigid and feel unnatural.
You will find your breast sitting way up on your chest right after your breast augmentation with post-operative swelling. Time is required for your existing skin and tissue to get situated around the implant. Your surgeon places the implants in a specific place on purpose as it is a necessary part of the process so that your final result looks at ease with the rest of your body. Your breasts will start to look and feel more natural within a few months of surgery after breast tissue, muscle and skin starts to accommodate to the implants.
11. Breast will take at least 6 months before it starts to feel ‘natural’.
You have to exercise some patience after your breast augmentation as you’ll only feel that your breasts are more natural after approximately 6 months and you’ll have to wait another 6 months for your breasts to be fully mature and soften. Go for breast massages to hasten the process.
12. Only start treat scar treatment after incision is completely closed.
Ensure that incisions are properly closed before starting on the scar treatment program, which normally occurs 2-3 weeks after breast augmentation. A non proper closure can cause a bad scar. Other scar lessening methods include Silicone Sheets that are taped over a scar, helping to reduce scarring. Invest in Vitamin E also helps by working on the collagen fibers, making the scar softer and more malleable.
13. Make sure to find a good plastic surgeon that can deliver the ideal results you want.
Getting a professional plastic surgeon that specializes in breast augmentation is your best bet to prevent post surgery complications that might end up incurring more cost. Also, a trained and professional plastic surgeon will ensure to keep your scarring to a minimal, giving you the perfect breasts you have always dreamt of.
How can I find a Singapore Plastic Surgeon for Breast Augmentation?
After making their sweet transition into stardom with their debut in Céci, it seems that rookie group SISTAR has been taking the K-pop charts by storm with hit after hit.
SISTAR is a four-member South Korean girl group formed in 2010 under the management of Starship Entertainment. The group consists of Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou and Dasom.
Recently the group were hit by allegations by former high school classmates for rowdy behaviour and a less than pleasant past.
However, the allegations we’re interested in investigating are whether or not the group got SISTAR plastic surgery.
Kim Hyo Jung Plastic Surgery Transformation
We begin our SISTAR plastic surgery investigation with Kim Hyo Jung, better known by her stage name Hyorin.
Since debuting in 2010, the 22-year-old has often been criticized by the Korean media for her supposed lack of beauty. Her mother has even said she’s not pretty.
With all the negative attention directed towards her appearance, it’s no wonder that Hyorin recently confessed on a recent episode of Korean variety show, Beatles Code that she’s interested to get SISTAR plastic surgery.
Hyorin has admitted to getting SISTAR plastic surgery done to her eyes, aka blepharoplasty. Her eyes were small and round, not in a cute way, but in a bad way.
The kind of round that hardly allows much of her eye whites to be seen. The before picture shows Hyorin lacking that extra eyelid fold, which she has now achieved with the help of the surgeon’s knife.
Hyorin has admitted to being afraid of anything going near her face, but we’re assuming she has overcome that fear considering she let a surgeon cut her eyelids open!
Blepharoplasty might be the only SISTAR plastic surgery Hyorin has admitted to in public but we think the singer has undergone rhinoplasty as well.
A quick before and after picture proves our point. In the first picture, there is no divide between her eyes as her nasal bridge is non-existent.
The second picture shows her with a higher nasal bridge and a better augmented tip than previously.
Yoon Bora Plastic Surgery Transformation
Next up in this SISTAR plastic surgery analysis is Yoon Bora, better known by her stage name Bora. Bora was a music major at Myongji University and is the rapper, vocalist and dancer of the group.
Being a K-pop star, it’s only natural to suspect a celebrity of getting plastic surgery and Bora has fallen prey to this suspicion as well.
However, in an interview held in Seoul to discuss their future activity, Bora was quoted as saying: “It’s not that I haven’t considered it, but they told me not to get it.
If I open my eyes really big, my double eyelids are there, but normally they’re not. I went to a plastic surgeon to get double eyelid surgery, but the doctor told me that my eyes are actually more attractive and told me not to get it.
Even about her nose, she said, “It’s not high considering I’m a celebrity, but I’m satisfied.” So let’s check if Bora’s SISTAR plastic surgery allegations are right.
The pictures above show a collage of Bora pre debut and after her SISTAR fame.
As we can see, she does seem to have double eyelids even before and her eye shape remains the same.
Her eyelids don’t seem to be the standard double eyelid crease that results from surgery, which normally starts the crease right at the inner corner of the eye.
We also don’t think she’s got her nose done as this so called before and after shows her with the same nose, right down to the tip!
We think Bora is one of the few Koreans blessed with such a lovely nose although the star admitted that her nose is quite big for celebrity standards.
So there you go. No SISTAR plastic surgery here.
Kang Ji Hyun aka Soyou Plastic Surgery Transformation
Can we say the same thing of fellow group member Kang Ji Hyun, aka Soyou?
In a photoshoot for Grazia magazine, Soyou stated that she overcame lack of self-confidence by accepting herself for who she is.
She also shared that her fellow member, Hyorin, really helped shape her positive self-esteem and mentality with her strong mentality and trust in herself.
But then again, Hyorin got plastic surgery, so did Soyou follow suit? We’ll let these before and after pictures speak for themselves.
Soyou was no doubt a chubby kid during her younger days. But chubby or not, your nose does NOT lose weight.
And your nasal bones most definitely do not contort itself to become a different shape at the tip. The length of her nose has grown drastically, leading us to believe she’s had a silicone implant to increase the height and lengthen the overall structure.
Perhaps this SISTAR plastic surgery was what helped her overcome her lack of confidence.
What other SISTAR plastic surgery did Soyou get to “increase her confidence”?
The before photo is a picture of the singer during her younger days. The after one is a random selca.
From the first picture we can tell Soyou had small round eyes and had very inconspicuous double eyelids.
The after picture shows us someone who has undergone blepharoplasty to get the much desired extra crease on her eyes.
Her larger eyes are certainly more attractive and have probably given her the extra confidence she needs.
Kim Dasom Plastic Surgery Transformation
Next in the SISTAR plastic surgery line up is Kim Dasom, better known to fans as Dasom.
Prior to joining SISTAR, Dasom had entered and won various poem and songwriting contests. Dasom made her debut as a member of Sistar on KBS Music Bank.
Recently, there were some nasty rumours that Dasom used to be a school bully back in the day, with classmates releasing stories of how she used to terrorize the school playground.
All these rumours aside, we want to focus on whether or not Dasom has had any SISTAR plastic surgery.
The before picture shows Dasom back in her high school days. While we can’t verify if the bullying rumours are through, we can verify that that is one shapely nose.
Dasom did have a long, slender snout before and as shown in both pictures, it remains the same, right down to the tip of her nose.
Dasom is lucky she didn’t have to undergo the horrors of having your nose cut open.
The same can’t be said of her eyes though. Judging from the pictures below, we suspect Dasom of SISTAR plastic surgery to her eyes.
While Dasom’s eyes are not dramatically bigger than before, we do notice there is an increase in the size of her peepers due to blepharoplasty.
In the after picture, she also seems to have gotten fat grafting under her eyes to get aegyo sal or “eye smiles” to achieve the cute and innocent look popular with K-pop stars.
Some people have this naturally when they smile but from Dasom’s childhood pictures we know her aegyo sal was achieved through SISTAR plastic surgery.
Now let’s take a look at SISTARs transformation from their pre debut days to the phenomenal success they are now:
We’re actually pleased to say that compared to other K-pop girl groups, SISTAR seems to be as natural as they get, natural in the sense that they didn’t get the “K-pop combo” surgery almost every other girl group has gotten.
When it comes to creating a beautifully sculpted nose, Dr Ng Siew Weng is the expert you want to consult. Having undergone rigorous training in Korea, Dr Ng has adopted one of the best techniques when it comes to Rhinoplasty.
Armed with his set of expertise, this learned plastic surgeon has created the perfect nose for each of his patients, earning him the reputation of being one of the best plastic surgeons in Singapore when it comes to all things Rhinoplasty.
For those who are keen on having a Rhinoplasty (nose job) done, here are some tips from the professional himself in this Doctor Opinion segment.
1) What are some of the key areas on the nose that patients are generally unsatisfied with?
Common problems include a low nasal bridge, bony hump, crooked, broad and drooping nasal tip, widened alar base and retracted columella. However, these common problems can be resolved with a Rhinoplasty or commonly referred to as a “nose job”.
2) What does a nose job do for the overall facial appearance?
A good nose job gives the face a slimmer, sharper and more three-dimensional appearance. Also, the angle between the columella and the lip would be greatly improved from the side profile. But more than just the front and side profile, for patient with a receded upper lip (which makes them appear older than they truly are), a Rhinoplasty well done can make them look much younger.
3) What are the different methods adopted for a nose job?
There are both minimally invasive and surgical procedures in the market now.
Minimally invasive procedures such as hyaluronic acid filler injection as well as thread insertion are unable to produce the result of an ideal nose. Besides, the Thread Insertion method is relatively new, so the long term risks of scarring and thread extrusion is still unknown
Surgical techniques include closed and open Rhinoplasty which are more versatile and can produce better results.
4) Does the L shaped implant produce the best results?
Although the L shaped implant has the ability to improve the dorsal height and tip projection. It has limited ability to augment a contracted columella or narrow the nose tip and alar base.
L-shaped implant is not commonly used during my advanced training in Korea as the use of L shaped implant for a Rhinoplasty procedure can cause frequent implant extrusion and deviation.
5) What is the difference between an open and closed Rhinoplasty?
A closed rhinoplasty involves only a small incision on the inside of the nose. However, Its effectiveness is limited compared to open rhinoplasty which visualises all the structures in the nose for definitive correction.
The typical Korean-style open rhinoplasty for an Asian nose involves a small cut across the columella, placement of silicone implant, cartilage from the nose septum and ear cartilage to achieve a natural-looking and refined nose profile. However, there are instances where some patients do not have sufficient cartilage of their own, if so, rib cartilage may be used.
6) What can fillers do for the nose and does it deliver promising results?
There is only so much filler injection can do for the nose. Although filler injection can improve the height of the nose bridge, it is not able to narrow a broad nose tip and wide alar base. While it provides immediate result, it is only temporary and lasts for about six months. There are also infrequent complications such as alar skin tissue loss and blindness.
“I have encountered several patients who had received repeated filler injections by their previous doctors, resulting in a broad and undefined nose bridge due to migration of filler. Filler in this region may take longer to resolve compared to injection elsewhere in the face.”
7) How long is the recovery for Rhinoplasty and tips for recovery?
Most patients are able to return to work in one to two weeks after the procedure. The swelling subsides after a month and the final result will be assessed in about three to six months
After surgery the nostrils are sponge dressed to prevent bleeding for 24 to 48 hours. Patient should also wear a supportive splint over the nose for one to two weeks and sutures are removed one week.
Singapore blogger Sophia Chong has always wanted double eyelids since young but has never considered surgery till recently.
She regards the eyes as one of the most important features on the face and the double eyelids will help to brighten the overall look.
Being active on social media, she has received comments that she already has double eyelids, but the truth is that she ‘faked’ it by using her eyebrow pencil to draw a line across the eyelid.
Her decision to finally undergo double eyelid surgery was because of the realisation that each time she drew on her eyelid, she was exerting force which could expedite the formation of wrinkles.
Her surgery started with a quick consultation of how high she wanted her double eyelids to be. She was able to choose better because the nurse used toothpicks to help her create temporal double eyelids of different heights.
Sophia was also able to see the difference between parallel and tapered eyelids. Here’s the difference between parallel and tapered double eyelids:
Choice of Double Eyelid surgery type
She chose to have parallel double eyelids using the non-incision technique known as the suture method. This means that there will be no cutting involved and the procedure is done using stitching.
Sophia chose this method because it’s scarless (due to there being no invasive cuts) and full recovery takes only about two weeks. More importantly, it is also reversible in the event she is not satisfied, she is able to do a revision surgery.
Dr Shens explained to Sophia if she takes care of her double eyelids, the suture method will last longer than the traditional method, or possibly even be permanent.
Healing Process after surgery
Here is Sophia right after her double eyelid surgery.
Her swelling only began on day 2, which is the day after surgery.
At Day 4, Sophia panicked because her left eye was not healing as fast as her right eye. So she called Dr Shens and was reassured that it is completely normal for one eye to heal faster than the other.
The swelling also went down within 6 days and she was happy that because the procedure is suture method, it did not leave her with scars so it looks natural.
Afterthought
Sophia Chong couldn’t be any happier with the results, and she wished she had done it earlier.
In her own words, “It’s the best feeling to wake up looking prettier without any make up and double eyelids certainly help to cut down on my eye make up by A LOT!”

This Thai girl idolised Nichkhun of 2PM so much that it took her 8 years of plastic surgeries to finally look like her idol.
For those who don’t follow K-pop, Nichkhun’s parents are Thai-Chinese though he was born in America. Being scouted at the age of 18 by JYP entertainment was the start of his journey to K-pop stardom.
First let’s take a look at Nichkhun.
Teddy (nickname) was born in Thailand as a woman.
Her biggest idol is Nichkhun of 2PM, and being that he is also Thai, she is able to relate better to her Kpop idol.
According to Asiantown, Teddy set out to change her looks in order to look like Nichkhun and it took her a total of 8 long years for her to achieve the look she wanted.
Let’s take a look at how Teddy looked like before:
Teddy undergone multiple plastic surgeries to look like what she is today. In the following picture, you can see her just after alar reduction surgery to make the nose less bulbous.
On a TV program aired by Dragon TV, a distressed mother decided to turn to the media for help to stop her 29-year-old daughter’s plastic surgery habit.
During the talk show aired on live TV to millions of viewers, the 61-year-old Mum told her daughter she was heartbroken by her constantly changing face. She even threatened to disown her daughter if she would not stop changing her looks.
The daughter, Yu Bing, had blown S$170,000 (800,000 RMB) on 20 plastic surgery operations over just the past two years.
“Every time I see her, she looks different – I can hardly recognise her even though I’m her mother,” said the woman, who was not identified in the programme, to the audience.
“Now my daughter’s face has been totally reshaped, all her extended family say she looks rather like a monster. How can I not be worried?”
Yu first underwent jaw contorting and a nose job in China. Amazed at the stunning look of Korean pop stars, she visited Seoul, the world’s plastic surgery capital, for a more ambitious revamp of her face.
She had a nose reconstruction in Korea to make it higher, before realising that her eyes were “too small”.
Soon afterwards, she had the shape of her eyes altered as well as a double eyelid operation, only to find out that her “jaw had become too long”. So Yu underwent a second jaw contouring operation in Korea.
Yu Bing, who runs a clothing business with friends, said that she has a strong desire to be another Fan Bingbing, a superstar Chinese actress, famous for her white skin, pointed chin, big eyes and fine nose, though Fan strongly denies they are the results of plastic surgery – even though her friends already regard her as a “good-looking girl.”
When asked about what 2016 has in store, Yu responded that she plans to “grow taller” this year by getting a surgery already gaining in popularity in which a doctor would break her shin bones to insert implants, giving her a few extra centimeters in height.
Yu’s remarks made her mother burst into tears immediately. But the younger woman kept smiling, as she said she could not control her facial expressions effectively following a recent surgery that curled her lips upwards.
This reminded us of an example we covered back last year. Plastic surgery should not be taken to the extremes.
While we advocate plastic surgery to enhance one’s looks, we definitely do not advocate extreme plastic surgery. Or you will become hated like him.
Their hit single ‘Gee’ catapulted them into stardom in 2009, causing the world to erupt at the slightest allusion to the girl band.
Originally a 9-member group, now 8, Girls’ Generation aka SNSD, has been greeted with much fanfare in many countries over the years, having a fan base that stretches so far and wide, it even reaches the West.
With the youngest member at 16 and the oldest at 18, the group of nine teenagers came together and debuted in 2007.
It has since been 7 years that SNSD came about and certainly, much has changed.
The girl band has evidently metamorphosed from a group of cute and innocent girls into a bevy of gorgeous and sophisticated young ladies.
While there is much conjecture about the group, undergoing the knife to achieving a more polished side of them, just how much did the members of SNSD transform?
Were the SNSD plastic surgery transformation rumors true or were they simply fluff sprouted by the tireless and unrelenting media?
Let’s find out.
Choi Soo-young Plastic Surgery Transformation
Let’s begin the SNSD plastic surgery analysis with Soo-young.
From the ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture, it does look like Soo-young has undergone quite some change.
It seems like some alteration has been done in the key facial features such as the eyes, nose and jaw.
Choi Soo-Young Eyes Transformation
We see that Soo-youg has rather uneven sized eyes to begin with.
Her left eye is evidently smaller than her right and her double eyelids are partially hidden.
She also has a longish eye shape in the ‘before’ picture.
Looking at the ‘after’ picture, it seems like Soo-young’s eyes has become wider, taking away that long slit-ish touch to it in the ‘before’ picture.
In addition, we also see that her double eyelids are more pronounced that before.
Could it be a double eyelid surgery and a Lateral Canthoplasty that helped achieve her new set of sharper eyes?
Choi Soo-Young Nose Transformation
Next, let’s talk about Soo-young’s nose.
Clearly, Soo-young has done some changes to her nose.
In the ‘before’ picture, we see that Soo-young has quite a broad nose bridge and also a chunkier nose tip, with the wings of her nose outspread.
Now, in the ‘after’ picture, Soo-young’s nose bridge is not only higher but it is certainly narrower.
And it gets better, her nose tip is now longer than alas of her nose, which goes to show, she has rid off the bulbous wings of her nose, making them much tamer and smaller than before.
Choi Soo-Young Jaw Transformation
The biggest Soo-young plastic surgery transformation is her jaw.
Soo-young has quite a strong jaw in the ‘before’ picture and she has a rather round-ish face shape.
However, with a wave of a magic wand, it seems like Soo-young has achieved a much smaller face and a more distinct v-line.
Perhaps some botox could have helped along the way.
Kim Tae-Yeon Plastic Surgery Transformation
We now go to the leader of SNSD, Kim Tae-yeon for another closer look at the SNSD plastic surgery transformation.
Quite a huge change for Tae-yeon too, don’t you think?
Kim Tae-Yeon Eyes Transformation
Tae-yeon’s eye shape remains pretty much the same in both the ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture, a lovely tear-drop shaped kind of eyes.
But the most distinct difference is that Tae-yeon’s eyes has become not only wider, but also longer.
To achieve that, Tae-yeon must have adopted Lateral Canthoplasty to widen her eyes.
Kim Tae-Yeon Nose Transformation
The biggest Tae-yeon plastic surgery transformation is undoubtedly her nose.
Tae-yeon is unfortunately, plagued by the big nose syndrome.
She has the typical Asian nose where the nose bridge is short and stumpy and a pair of alas that like an only child, is insome serious need for attention.
In the ‘after’ picture, Kim Tae-yeon removed every unflattering aspect of her nose.
Through a well thought out rhinoplasty procedure, she lengthened and heightened her nose bridge, shaved off the flabby sides of her nose and ta-duh, a beauty has descended upon us.
Kim Tae-Yeon Jaw Transformation
Again, we see that Tae-Yeon has a pretty broad face in the ‘before’ picture.
But in the ‘after’ picture, we see a pretty drastic transformation to her face shape, it has evidently become much sharper and smaller.
Kwon Yuri Plastic Surgery Transformation
Next up, Kwon Yuri.
Born with a pretty face, you just cannot believe she would even consider plastic surgery.
Well, Yuri, being the prettiest natural beauty in the lot (in our opinion) likewise did some alterations to her façade.
Which goes to show, not one member can escape the clutches of the SNSD plastic surgery transformation.
Kwon Yuri Eyes Transformation
We must say, we almost could not believe our eyes when we saw these two pictures.
They are almost completely different persons and we say, the eyes are the culprits.
In the ‘before’ picture, Yuri has a set of really appealing and sweet looking eyes.
An almond shaped eyes with hint of double eyelids that made her eyes glimmer with endearment whenever she smiled.
However, Yuri’s façade changed very drastically when she decided to change up the shape of her eyes.
We see that Yuri has done a double eyelid surgery to thicken her eyelid crease and also cut up the sides of her eyes to widen her eyes, making them bigger and more dilated.
While it did make her eyes bigger, it unfortunately caused her to lose that sparkle she had with her then set of seriously adorable eyes.
Kwon Yuri Nose Transformation
Yuri did not possess the slimmest of noses but we felt it was really not too bad.
Apparently, Yuri thought otherwise. Trimming the wings of her nose and raising the height of her nose, Yuri has now achieved the celebrity standard of the ‘ideal’ nose.
Kwon Yuri Jaw Transformation
In the ‘before’ picture, Yuri has a much broader bottom half of her face.
If you realize, the distance between her bottom lip and the tip of her chin is much further in the ‘before’ picture, than it is in the ‘after’ picture.
Overall, her face looks much sharper and shapely than before.
Jessica Jung Plastic Surgery Transformation
While Jessica Jung has left SNSD, we will still discuss about her procedures as she was one of the original founding member of SNSD.
It has been rumored that Jessica has undergone the most number of surgeries in the entire SNSD clan, transforming the ugly duckling of the group, into one of the sharpest looking members in SNSD.
So how did the SNSD plastic surgery transformation change Jessica?
Let’s take a look.
Jessica Jung Eyes Transformation
Do we even need to explain what Jessica has done to her eyes?
We think it’s pretty obvious.
But for those who may not have the most discerning eye, let us explain more.
In the ‘before’ picture, it is clear that Jessica has a pair of uneven eyes and double eyelids.
If you look closer, Jessica’s left eye has a slight but vague looking double eyelids while her right eye is almost as good as single lidded.
As you glance to the right at the ‘after’ picture, we see that Jessica miraculously achieved equal sized eyes with a much more noticeable double eyelids.
Jessica must have undergone a blepharoplasty to not only equalize her eye shape, but also to create a more distinct set of double eyelids.
Jessica Jung Nose Transformation
Comparing the ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture, we see that Jessica’s nose has completely lost any form of naturalness in it.
Her nose bridge is pencil straight and has taken on a rather unnatural height.
Of course, not forgetting the tidying up on the sides of her nose, making them as inconspicuous as possible.
Jessica Jung Jaw Transformation
The biggest transformation for Jessica has to be her jaw.
It is as though Jessica has taken on another persona.
Is the ‘before’ really the same person as the ‘after’?
If so, a lot must have been done to achieve the above.
To begin with, Jessica has a rather long-ish face, which many would call a ‘horse’ face.
It is clear that Jessica did not take that nickname with a pinch of salt, instead she took it and hurled it right back at her haters.
To achieve the drastic transformation, Jessica changed her entire bone structure at her jaw.
She must have shaved her jaw to shorten the lower part of her face and then possibly adding chin implants to attain that v shaped finish.
Jaw shaving does sound pretty nerve wrecking. But hey, at least Jessica is horse face no more!
Im Yoona Plastic Surgery Transformation
Just when you think the SNSD plastic surgery transformation cannot get any juicer.
Well, think again.
We now present Im Yoona.
Judging from the ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture, we’re sure you can tell that Yoona has indeed gotten her fair share of plastic surgery procedures, bringing her to where she is today.
Im Yoona Eyes Transformation
Oh, isn’t she so delightful with that cute impish smile?
But her set of small squinty eyes just does not cut it for that celebrity status and by golly, did Yoona change that up.
With a more pronounced set of double eyelids and a wider, bigger set of eyes, Yoona is now officially part of ‘team attractive’ in the eyes of the public.
Im Yoona Nose Transformation
So with the eyes out of the way, naturally, like her other sisters in the group, Yoona had to get her nose fixed.
In fact, the picture on the right is taken during the recovery period of her rhinoplasty procedure.
We see that her nose bridge is swollen from the surgery but it is of course, only a small price to pay considering Yoona looks much more sophisticated and put together in the ‘after’ picture.
Im Yoona Jaw Transformation
Like Jessica, Yoona’s most drastic plastic surgery procedure is her jaw.
Again, we see that Yoona has quite a long and strong looking jaw. Since a strong, long jaw essentially massacres any traces of femininity, Yoona saw the need to have that fixed.
In order to get to where Yoona is today, the SNSD member had her jaw shaved to make them shorted and smaller, allowing her to achieve that highly sought after feline, feminine face.
Tiffany Hwang Plastic Surgery Transformation
It is not easy to outshine the rest of your girl members when they are all so fabulously gorgeous.
And Tiffany is living proof of it.
Ranked 4th in the popularity polls, Tiffany ‘s mediocre rank has given her all the more a reason to up her game.
Tiffany Hwang Eyes Transformation
Tiffany started off with a very average looking façade and the celebrity is not about to settle.
From both the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures, we see that Tiffany has done quite a bit to her eyes.
The once slit-like and uneven eyes have now transformed into a very sharp and sultry looking eyes.
They say the eyes can make or break an individual’s appearance and can we say, they got that so right.
Tiffany Hwang Nose Transformation
Along with her mediocre looking façade, comes a huge bulbous nose.
While Tiffany did not have a short and stumpy nose, she indeed had a huge nose.
A nose that had to either be rid off or changed for the better.
And change she did.
Since Tiffany had a relatively high nose bridge to begin with, all she had to do was to make some changes to the broadness of her nose bridge, making them more slender than before.
Tiffany Hwang Jaw Transformation
Having the typical flat and broad face with masculine jaw like every other Korean possesses, Tiffany knew she had to go big or go home with her jaw surgery.
With the help of some jaw shaving and a touch of Botox, Tiffiany soon became a more feminine looking celebrity with a more acceptable jawline.
Sunny Lee Plastic Surgery Transformation
And then we have Sunny Lee.
Sunny is regarded the ‘tomboy’ of the group since she does not quite possess the most feminine features to begin with.
A set of ordinary eyes, a bulbous nose and round U-shaped face, Sunny is not what many would identify as a celebrity.
In fact, when placed in a crowd, Sunny would blend in so effortless into the norm and be easily overlooked.
And so, Sunny had to make some pretty drastic changes, SNSD plastic surgery style, in order for her to enter into the world of stardom.
Sunny Lee Eyes Transformation
Like every other member of SNSD, Sunny also opted for a blepharoplasty.
Notice how the procedure immediately removes the boyish and childlike element in her and instantly adds a more feminine touch to her?
Because bright and sparkly eyes are the fad for that female celebrity stature, Sunny is sure to not give that procedure a miss.
Sunny Lee Nose Transformation
Throughout our scrutiny on the SNSD plastic surgery transformation journey, we have witnessed how bulbous noses have the capacity to decimate one’s appearance.
Clearly, a huge and bulbous nose has done Sunny in.
Not only does she look frumpy and kiddy, she certainly didn’t seem to have the caliber to be in only the biggest and most popular girl group in Korea.
Just look at how the rhinoplasty has changed Sunny’s appearance for the better.
Sharper nose bridge ✓
Less bulky alas ✓
And we’re good to go.
Sunny Lee Jaw Transformation
The change is clear because the change is drastic.
From a roundish U-shaped face to a visibly V-shaped jawline, Sunny definitely looks a trillion times more feminine and demure.
Gone are the days she looked boyish and unrefined, the Sunny we have now is nothing but a hot sexy lady.
Kim Hyo-Yeon Plastic Surgery Transformation
“The ugliest of the group”.
“She looks like a hulk”.
“Her nose is in dire need of help”.
Kim Hyo-yeon falls victim to these harsh and demeaning comments and sure, pictorial evidences of Hyo-yeon’s younger days have raised much aversion to her looks.
Hyo-yeon has had many alterations done along the years to help her fit better into the SNSD image.
Kim Hyo-Yeon Eyes Transformation
First off, Hyo-yeon’s eyes. Looking at the inner corners of her eyes in the ‘picture’, you see a very distinct cut, opening up her eyes, giving it a more cat-like effect.
The inner cut aka Epicanthoplasty, also narrows the gap between the eyes, making the distance between her eyes far lesser.
Kim Hyo-Yeon Nose Transformation
When we say Hyo-yeon had a huge nose, we really actually mean ginormous.
Although we feel bad for Hyo-yeon, especially since many keyboard warriors have called Hyo-yeon really nasty names due of her huge nose, but girl, she seriously needed to get that nose fixed.
We see how Hyo-yeon’s nose has an immediate effect on her overall facial façade.
In the ‘before’ picture, her huge nose has essentially stolen every ounce of attention from her other facial features, making her look rather unladylike.
But in the ‘after’ picture, we see that the rest of her facial features are more proportionate and an even amount of attention is given to the other features, allowing us to appreciate the overall beauty she exudes.
Kim Hyo-Yeon Jaw Transformation
We know that both Jessica and Yoona have one of the more terrible sets of jaws in the group, but none were as bad as Hyo-yeon’s.
While Jessica and Yoona had a long face, they however, did not possess a square-ish and manly set of jaws like Hyo-yeon.
Of course, for her to achieve a slimmer and more feminine facial structure, Hyo-yeon had to also shave the sides of her jaw.
The difference between the ‘before’ and ‘after’ is simply astounding.
We see that her countenance has taken on a softer touch and that, ladies and gentleman, is the magical touch of a jaw reduction procedure.
Seohyun Plastic Surgery Transformation
Last but not least, we present to you, Seo Ju-Hyun, also known by her stage name as Seohyun.
In our opinion, Seohyun did the least procedures out of the lot.
Although Seohyun was quite pretty in her pre-debut pictures, but as we all know, everyone in the group has to have equal treatment or they might just feel left out.
And because the public held SNSD in high reverence, Seohyun, although almost perfect, fell short of expectation and had to have a taste of the SNSD plastic surgery transformation.
Seohyun Eyes Transformation
Seohyun, in the ‘before’ picture had rather closed eyes.
They were seemingly small and did not have the distinct tear-drop eye shape that she has in the ‘after’ picture.
Evidently, Seohyun’s eyes are much bigger and wider in the ‘after’ picture, giving her a very innocent, puss-in-boots like eyes.
Seohyun Nose Transformation
Seohyun’s nose in the after picture definitely looks sharper and smaller.
Yes, you guessed it right, the flabby nose wings are gone for good and Seohyun just upped her attractiveness level from a 7 to a 9.
Seohyun Nose Transformation
Unlike the others in the group, we believe that Seohyun did not do much to her jawline.
We see that Seohyun has a naturally sharp face and it simply was some shedding of baby fats that resulted in her sharper and slender face.
Lucky Seohyun!
And there we have it, all 9 members of SNSD with their ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures.
Along the way, we have witnessed some jaw-dropping (no pun intended), transformation in some of the girls.
But one thing’s for sure, the SNSD we see in 2007 is no longer the SNSD we see today.
Recently, a superfan look-alike appeared on the popular Chinese singing competition show “Super Girl,” astonishing the audience with her incredibly near resemblance to one of China’s most famous actresses – Fan Bing Bing.
He Chengxi, has spent the past 8 years going under the knife to make herself look like the always graceful Fan Bingbing. Her boyfriend even supported her in her dream, opening up a plastic surgery clinic of his own to help out.
After her appearance on national television, Fake Fan Bingbing’s pictures began to spread all over the Chinese internet with many web users commenting that they really couldn’t tell which was a picture of Fan, and which was fake.
However, most netizens on Weibo weren’t all that crazy about He Chengxi’s borrowed looks anyway. “Although it is possible to make yourself look exactly like Fan Bingbing, it is impossible to mimic her aura. So why do people still want to do it? Why can’t they be happy with their own looks,” commented one netizen.
“I wonder what is going on in Li Cheng’s mind? To see so many girls looking exactly like his girlfriend online and on the street,” another wrote in, referencing Fan Bingbing’s current boyfriend.
He Chengxi is certainly not the first Chinese woman to have gone to extreme measures to look like Fan Bingbing. Thanks to her distinctive white skin, pointed chin, big eyes and fine nose, Fan’s face has become the envy of many, and the most popular template for plastic surgeons, offering procedures named after her.
Due to the nature of the Asian genes, many Asians find their breasts less voluminous as compared to their Caucasian counterparts.
As such, Breast Augmentation procedure is one of the most common procedures performed in Asia today.
For those of us who are keen on a Breast Augmentation procedure but have some pressing questions such as the suitability of the different methods, expectations and pre-breast augmentation surgery preparations, here are some answers and tips from one of Singapore’s most renowned plastic surgeon, Dr Colin Tham in this Doctor Opinion segment.
1) Qn: Who are the suitable candidates for a Breast Augmentation procedure?
Ans: Any lady who is bothered by the size, shape or position of her breasts, nipples or areola.
2) Qn:What determines a good breast surgery?
Ans: A good breast surgery is a surgery, which delivers durable aesthetically-pleasing results, while preserving the function and sensation of the breast and nipple-areolar unit.
3) Qn: What can a breast augmentation do for the breast?
Ans: A breast augmentation improves the volume, shape and position of breasts. The procedure can be used to lift sagging breasts, or improve symmetry with unequal breasts. Nipples can be reduced if large, or pulled out if inverted. Areola can be reduced.
4) Qn: Implants vs fat grafting vs fillers, what is the difference amongst the three and which is the best for whom?
Fillers
There used to be 3 brands of fillers available in Singapore. Aqualift had problems with infections, Hyacorp had problems with lumps and migration. Macrolane was quite safe but was costly and only lasts 1-2 years. I stopped using Macrolane as the manufacturer issued an advisory that it could interfere with the screening for Breast Cancer; we shouldn’t be performing procedures, which can interfere with the detection of something as serious as cancer.
Fat Grafting
Fat grafting is a good option for those patients who have enough fat to achieve the breast enhancement they desire. It is a natural result with minimal scarring, and there is the advantage of excess fat from another area (usually tummy or thighs) being removed. The advantage over implants is that there is no foreign material used. The main drawback is that many patients who want breast enhancement have insufficient fat to achieve their desired size.
Implants
Implants are my personal preference, as the result looks the best of the 3 options while being predictable and durable. Of the 3 options, implants are the most effective at reshaping breasts, not just increasing the volume. If performed well, they do not sag much with age. In contrast to fat transfer, implants are possible for most candidates. Contrary to a lot of info online, implants do not need to be changed unless problems arise. Some patients have had their original implants for 30+ years. The main psychological barrier for some patients is the presence of foreign material.
5) Qn: Silicone implant vs saline implant, which is better?
Ans: Silicone, hands down. Better look and feel.
6) Qn: What is done during the surgery for each method?
Fillers: Just the simple injection of fillers under local anaesthetic.
Fat Transfer: Usually performed under local anaesthesia and sedation or general anaesthesia. The fat is harvested from the donor areas (usually thighs or tummy), then prepared / filtered. The pure fat is then injected through a long cannula (blunt needle) into the breast tissue.
Implants: I only perform this under general anaesthesia. A deep pocket is created to exactly fit the implant underneath the breast tissue (and muscle). The implant is inserted and the small incision (3+cm) is closed.
7) Qn: Any lifestyle habits to change or eliminate before the surgery?
Ans :Smoking would be the main habit to eliminate. It decreases fat transfer survival and increases the risk of infection for all methods.
8) Qn: What are some of the things one has to do in preparation for the surgery?
Ans: There is a list of medications and supplements to avoid from 1-2 weeks before surgery. If the surgery is performed under sedation or general anaesthesia, patients are required to fast 6 hours beforehand.
9) Qn: What to expect right after the surgery?
Ans: There is some swelling which will make the breasts appear larger than they will be. There is some discomfort as well, more with implants than the other methods.
Just when you though the worst of sexism was over with the rise of the feminist movement, a plastic surgery clinic in Shandong is now getting unwanted attention by assigning its parking spaces not numbers, but breast sizes.
According to the Shanghaiist, it’s unclear how strictly this parking regulation is enforced or what the point of it is at all really, but Chinese netizens say they would feel a bit awkward about parking in any of the spaces because colleagues would know their true breast size.
Judging by the picture below though, not everyone feels that way with a huge Ford squeezed in the “A-cup” space. What matters here is self-confidence.
And unsurprisingly, the “D-cup” space is conspicuously unoccupied. Perhaps no one wanted to “show off” unless there was a hot guy/doctor/surgeon in the office.
“What about men? Do they have to park based on length?” wondered one netizen.
If that was the case, you will probably see the parking lots empty for the shortest length.
