A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet and we think this expression couldn’t be more apt for our next PlastyTalk celebrity.
The gorgeous Jun Ji Hyun, born Wang Ji Hyun but better known as Gianna Jun is a popular South Korean actress. She is famed for her role as “The Girl” in the romantic comedy My Sassy Girl, one of the highest grossing Korean comedies of all time.
Her other notable films include Il Mare (2000), Windstruck (2004), The Thieves (2012), and The Berlin File (2013), as well as the television series My Love from the Star.
Given her talents as an actress, it’s hard to imagine Jun Ji Hyun doing anything else, yet this 33 year olds original ambition was to be a flight attendant.
Fate obviously had other plans because at the tender age of 16, Jun Ji Hyun aka Wang Ji Hyun, aka Gianna Jun was discovered on the street by a fashion editor.
Thus began her modelling career, where she landed her first gig as a model for Ecole Magazine in 1997. It wasn’t until she was featured in a commercial for Samsung My Jet Printer that she became an overnight sensation. The dance moves and sassy attitude in the ad made her into an icon for teens and young adults in Korea.
We’re mighty glad Jun Ji Hyun’s gorgeous mug is on our TV screens and not up in the skies, but is that pretty face of hers a 100% original, or, is she spotting fake features?

OK, so we’ll cut down the suspense and just tell you what it is. But to be fair, here’s a picture of her first.
This Jun Ji Hyun plastic surgery is called zygoma reduction, better known as cheekbone reduction or cheekbone augmentation.
This surgery basically shaves down the very prominent zygoma bones (the ones sitting on the side of your cheeks that give most East Asians, especially Koreans, a very large and square looking face) so that the upper half of your face becomes slimmer and more in sync with the lower half so you don’t look like a horribly misshaped inverted triangle.
We’ve got to say Jun Ji Hyun’s face isn’t too bad in the before picture, but you can definitely see the very large upper part of her face sticking out.
As you can see, in the before picture she’s got a lot of space between the corners of her eyes to her ears, whereas in the after picture, the space is greatly reduced, so it looks more symmetrical and in sync with the rest of the features on her face.
This Jun Ji Hyun plastic surgery softens the edge of her face and gives her a gentler look.
On a scale of 1 to deadly, zygoma reduction surgery sits at 8 so we’re glad this Jun Ji Hyun plastic surgery had stunning results.
